Hognose snake born September 2005, owned and spoiled by Jan and Richard Macek. In Jan's own words:"Unfortunately, people mistake the hognose for a rattlesnake, too. Hognoses are rear fanged and if they were to chew on your finger and one is sensitive to their mild venom, it could cause problems. And their tail pattern looks like it has rattles. This is such a strange snake. If it gets upset, it acts like a cobra--it has the ability to puff out it's skin on it's neck and if that doesn't work, it flops on it's back and plays dead. Hogathe is such a cutie but then I feel that way about all my pets."
